Accommodations
Plans

The EDEAQ offers four lodging options:

**Hostel [Los Andes] (simple, price worthy hostel), incl. breakfast.

***Hostel [Las Mercedes] (standard middle class hostel), incl. breakfast.

***Hotel [Tierra Sur] (very good middle class hotel), incl. breakfast (half board upon  request).

Please note that tuition (classes) without accommodation is

of course available as well (refer to „Prices and Services“).

Homestay (host family)

Homestay with an urban middle class family in a single room with bathroom/shower-WC (for students travelling together: a double/twin bedded room or two single rooms are available). Desktop computer, i.e. internet access (ADSL wireless/WiFi) is available. – Normally, the EDEAQ student will be the only foreign language student in his/her host family. – The EDEAQ host families live in safe and quiet neighbourhoods (Cayma, Yanahuara, Vallecito, Umacollo, Selva Alegre), fairly near the city centre/the school, thus short commutes of ten minutes or less may be necessary, either by public busses (“combis”) or by taxi. We recommend the latter: Individual taxis are a common, abundant mode of transport in Arequipa, and they are cheap. Fares are between USD 0.70/€ 0.40 und USD 1.40/€ 0.80. Walking distances to the school is usually between 15 and 25 minutes. An overnight (incl. breakfast), as part of the EDEAQ service package, costs USD 11.00 (single room) or USD 18.00 (twin bedded/double room); half board upon request, i.e. USD 3.50 per additional meal. A minimum stay of three nights is required, i.e. the package price will include a minimum of three nights, regardless of whether the actual stay is one or two nights only.

The biggest advantage of a home stay is that you will only communicate with the family in Spanish. This means that you will be practising Spanish constantly while you are living with the family. This will also be a great opportunity for you to get to know about Peru and Arequipa and how a typical Arequipa middle class family lives.
