3.2 Accommodation
3.2.1. Home Stay (Host Family)

3.2.1.1. Accommodation (including breakfast) with an urban middle class host family in Arequipa in an adequately furnished single room (with private bathroom/shower-WC); for clients travelling together: a double/twin bedded room or two single rooms (the two clients share one private bathroom/shower-WC) are available. – Laundry: USD 3.00 per load (to be paid directly to the landlady).

3.2.1.2. The quality of the accommodation and the boarding is measured in terms of what is customary amongst the Arequipa middle class.

3.2.1.3. Normally, the EDEAQ client is the only non-native Spanish speaking student in his/her host family. The EDEAQ, however, reserves the right to accommodate in one host family more than one EDEAQ client, and the host family has the right to accommodate other non native Spanish speaking and/or native Spanish speaking house guests.

3.2.1.4. Under standard conditions (depending upon the course duration), clients are hosted one week (= 6 days), two weeks (= 13 days), three weeks (= 20 days), etc. The charges for additional days (overnights) are USD 13.00 (single room) or USD 11.00 (double room) per person per day and are to be paid to the EDEAQ. A minimum stay of four days (overnights) is required, i.e. the package price will include a minimum of four days (overnights).

3.2.1.5. Arrival day is Sunday and departure day is Saturday. Individual arrangements (i.e. not squaring to the Sunday/Saturday pattern) are possible, but at the discretion of the School only.

3.2.1.6. No reimbursement will be made for missed overnights or breakfasts due to the absence of the client or any other reason on the part of the client between the first and the last day of the accommodations as originally booked or as mutually agreed (this also means: between the move-in date and the actual move-out date). .

3.2.1.7. Additional meals (lunch and/or dinner) are possible; the additional charge is USD 3.50 (full meal)/USD 2.50 (snack) per person (to be paid directly to the landlady). Please note that lunch and/or dinner may not be available seven days a week (in particular not on Sundays and/or Public Holidays), i.e. the availability of meals other than breakfast is, in principle, subject to the discretion of the hosts. – You may use the kitchen for preparing small (cold) meals, warming up ready-made (take way) meals, and you can useplates, cutlery, cups/glasses, etc., and the refrigerator. Additional breakfast: USD 2.50 (to be paid directly to the landlady).

3.2.1.8. Normally, accommodation ends either the day after the end of the language course, or one day earlier, or one day later. Additional days with the same host family are, in principle, possible, but the EDEAQ cannot guarantee this, i.e. cannot exclude the possibility of a relocation (i.e. moving to another host family). The client must inform (notice: 72 hours) the EDEAQ of any intention to extend his/her home stay (even if he/she will not take any more Spanish classes), and the EDEAQ has to approve it. The corresponding additional payments have to be made to the EDEAQ.

3.2.1.9. In the event that you plan to encourage your husband/wife, friend (including former/current/future EDEAQ students), etc. to move in, the approval of the hosts and the EDEAQ will be required (notice: 24 Std.). The corresponding additional payments have to be made to the EDEAQ.

3.2.1.10. The host family/landlady is not authorised to accept/receive any payment from (former/current/future) EDEAQ students or their family members, friends, etc. All payments (refer to 3.2.1.9.), except for extra meals and/or laundry, must be made to the EDEAQ.

3.2.1.11. Under normal circumstances, the client stays with one and the same host family. But this cannot be guaranteed 100% – in particular not under the following cases: mid-week arrival, and/or a length of stay of four or more weeks and/or a prolongation of the stay announced “in situ” (on the spot) or at short notice. In such cases, it can happen (which very rarely occurs) that a client will stay with two host families, i.e. will be obliged (after a certain period of time) to move from the original host family to a new/second one. The corresponding transfer costs will be at the expense of the EDEAQ.

3.2.1.12. The availability of host families is limited during the summer holiday season (from approx. 15 December until early March).

The contact details of the host family will be forwarded to booked clients approx. four days prior to their arrival in Arequipa.
